Hutchison House Museum is running a number of fun and educational programs throughout March Break including hands-on activities, games and tons of fun! Programs run daily from March 17th to the 20th from 9:30 am to 12 pm and pre-registration is required. To register, please call 705-743-971.
Tuesday March 17th
Leaping Leprechauns: Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Hutchison House with some holiday crafts and games. Children will make their own moveable ‘leaping’ leprechaun to take home and participate in some fun holiday games such as Hot Potato and Who’s the Leprechaun
Wednesday March 18th
Teddy Bears: A hands-on activity, children will love making their very own teddybear. Many different skills are involved in the creation of this toy, from cutting and sewing to drawing and decorating, the final result is oh, so satisfying.
Thursday March 19th
Marionettes: String operated puppets or marionettes have been used for thousands of years to educate and entertain the masses. In this workshop children will create their own bendable marionettes using air dry modelling clay.
Friday March 20th
Down to the Letter: For over 2,000 the quill pen has been used for writing. In this workshop children will learn how to write with a quill pen and write their own Victorian letter complete with wax seal. Children will also explore other forms of communicating such as the old fashion typewriter, Egyptian Hieroglyphs and more!
